So would this anime series cover any sizable romance at all? Would not be interested if there are only slight hints/zero romance.

It's a bit slow but it's there. Wouldn't really recommend to someone who wanted a love story since it's definitely not in the romance genre

Yes, there is romance. However it doesn't really start to bloom till vol 4. At that point the series does deserve a romance tag as the romance itself becomes a huge part of the narrative. Unsure if we'll to get to see it in the anime, at the current pace it can't be said for sure if we'd get it in the 2nd cour. Might have to wait till a s2 or start reading the books to experience it.

There are the slightest bits of romance, but if you’re going into the anime looking for it, you’ll be disappointed. I still recommend it, though. I’m even planning on getting the LNs.

There won't be in the first, second and even the third season, romance is suggested at vol 4 of the light novel and currently the first season seems to only be adapting the first volume.
There is romance although that isn't the main plot and if you're going in for just romance then you wouldn't like this show

I feel like there could be hints of romance or maybe certain things can be interpreted as such, but I personally am not looking for that in this show and I'd rather it not shift its focus to deal with romance.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

There is a romance and it's not the main focus but also very important to the story moving forward, if you have watched steins gate you'll know what i mean and by saying that it is a lot better than these romcoms we have now.

Yes 86: Eighty Six does have romance, but it doesn’t really start until volume 4, 5, 6, 7, and beyond so we won’t see it really start until the 2nd season is announced after the 2nd cour is finished, the romance is very well made and isn’t rushed, it’s perfectly developed, I read volume 7 when it released on March 30th i was really happy after reading the light novel for a year or so, it was perfect, you will definitely be satisfied and happy, I’m just waiting for volume 8 to release on July 20th.
